The associates we’ve hired in partnership with NorthStar Community Services have been one of the best partnerships we work with – hands down. NorthStar is engaged with us as employers. Have taken the time to understand our business and our business needs. When we have openings, they will oftentimes go above and beyond to see if they have someone who could fill the position. There are so many benefits to hiring clients of NorthStar Community Services it’s hard to summarize. Most of the associates we’ve hired work in our housekeeping department or kitchen. A value of working with NorthStar’s clients is dependability. They show up to work, on time, with smiles and ready to work. Hiring a NorthStar client helps us fill employment gaps or positions that can be harder to fill due to limited hours offered. For the associates that need a job coach, we wouldn’t be able to hire if it weren’t for NorthStar. Knowing they have a coach with them, to help guide and keep them on task, answer questions the associate may have, etc. is a priceless value. We wouldn’t have the skill set nor the manpower to do this. We really consider the coaches to be a part of our team too. Besides being efficient with their job skills the bigger impact is who these associates are as people. They resonate not only with our team but with our hotel guests as well. I’ve had numerous guests recognize us in appreciation for hiring adults with disabilities. Oftentimes, I learn that the guests have a loved one with similar disabilities and would love it if they could work for an employer like us. We feel so fortunate to have the opportunity to work with people who are genuine, kind, compassionate, and always happy. They are our sunshine. Actually, they are like family to all of us! None of this would be possible, without the partnership of NorthStar Community Services.

At 310 Pub, we believe Jakob is a vital asset to the team. He shows up in a timely manner and is ready to execute his tasks, as well as anything else that might be given to him. Jakob brings a positive attitude to his shift which brightens everyone’s day. The collaboration with NorthStar has been extremely rewarding and successful, and we will continue to recommend this program to other employers.

I love how NorthStar provides me with a job coach to help support me at work and always picks me up on time so I can get to my shift. My coach helps show me different ways to clean so I can be efficient at my job. She always listens to me if I need to talk and is willing to help me so I can have a good day. I love working at Sheraton because of the friends I have made here. Everyone makes me feel good and I love coming to work! I've been here a long time because I have good support from NorthStar and Sheraton staff is good to me.

NorthStar helped me get my job back at Sheraton after covid. My coach is always here to help me, and we have fun together. Everyone at Sheraton treats me well and I love coming to work!

NorthStar helped find the perfect job for me. I love the hours and the calm environment. They also gave me a coach that supports me and that I have fun with. She helps me grow in my job skills so I feel more independent. I love working at 310 Pub because they make me feel part of the team.

I feel 100% that it’s important to support the Employment Program. This Program has helped Sandy grow in her skills and with her communication. Her coach does so well with her. We enjoy having both of them.

I feel like supporting employment programs like NorthStar is absolutely wonderful. It is a great opportunity for employers to help offer individuals jobs that help them feel accomplished. This helps get them out and interact within the community when it may otherwise be difficult for them to do so. I hope this is something that more companies will continue to do and that all the wonderful clients through NorthStar get the opportunities they deserve.

NorthStar provides a fun working environment and everyone from the Administration Staff to clients are always so kind.
